Technical Alpinism is a premium, small-group course built around one thing: mixed ground. Rock, ice, and everything in between, often in the same pitch. It’s the discipline that separates a summit hike from a genuine alpine climb — and it’s the skill set that opens up long, technical routes like the Matterhorn and Eiger.
This isn’t a glacier-travel course with a harder objective bolted on. It’s five days spent building the movement, rope systems, and judgement that committing mixed terrain demands, developed specifically toward the longer, more technical climbs that follow.

Climbers who’ve completed 4000m Summit Skills, or arrive with equivalent experience
Anyone aiming to attempt the Matterhorn or Eiger, whether independently or guided
Confident rock or ice climbers looking to combine both into genuine mixed alpine climbing
The Course
Days 1–2 — Instruction, pitched to you Guided at 4:1, these two days are built around your existing level: a day sharpening rock movement and rope work, and a day building the mixed climbing and rope systems that carry onto committing terrain — more advanced than anything covered on an introductory course.
Days 3–5 — The push. Here the ratio steps up to 2:1 (1:1 available on request) for three days on genuine mixed ground — rock, ice, and ridgeline in the same pitch — matched to what you’ve shown across the first two days and building directly toward the movement and pace a route like the Matterhorn or Eiger demands.
Exact terrain and objectives are set day by day, based on your progress and conditions.

A note on conditions
The Alps don’t run to a fixed script, and recent summers have made that clearer than ever. Every course is weather and condition dependent, and your guide’s safety decisions — including changes to the route, the objective, or the schedule — are always final. Where a planned summit isn’t possible, your guide will offer the best available alternative on the day.
