The Alps Triple Crown is a collection of the three most iconic peaks in the Alpine Massif — each famous for a different reason. Mont Blanc as the highest mountain in Western Europe. The Matterhorn for its unmistakable shape and unforgiving, fast-changing weather. The Eiger for its notorious North Face — the “Murder Wall” — which has claimed the lives of some of the most famous names in alpinism.
Summiting any one of these mountains is an achievement in its own right. Combining all three into a single expedition demands serious fitness, grit, and determination — and rewards it with one of the most coveted prizes in the world of alpinism. These mountains don’t just test you physically; they challenge you mentally in ways few other trips can. Complete the Triple Crown, and you leave not just with a lifetime achievement, but as a different climber altogether.

The 3 Mountains
Mont Blanc (4,808m) The highest peak in the Alpine Massif, first climbed on 8 August 1786 in an ascent credited as the birth of alpinism itself. Success demands immense fitness, solid glacier travel, and composure under pressure — not least through the Grand Couloir du Goûter, a 100m-wide rock chute that can change in an instant, which is why summit pushes on the Goûter Route start as early as midnight.
The Matterhorn (4,478m) Arguably the most recognisable mountain in the world, overlooking Zermatt at the end of the Pennine Alps. First climbed in 1865 in an ascent marred by tragedy — four of the seven climbers died on the descent. The Hörnli Ridge climbs 1,100m into the sky from the Hörnli Hut, demanding speed, precision, and unwavering calm in the face of exposure.
The Eiger (3,967m) Not the tallest of the three, but the most formidable, known for its near-1,800m North Face — the “Murder Wall.” It took almost 100 years from the mountain’s first ascent (via its easier west flank in 1858) to the first climb of the face itself, in 1938. Most climbers take the Mittellegi Ridge — a classic, long, and spectacular line with a memorable descent past the Eismeer station.
The Expedition
Day 0 — Arrival in Chamonix (Flights and airport transfer not included)
Day 1 — Train & acclimatisation in the Mont Blanc range
Day 2 — Mont Blanc ascent, Day 1 Hut night at the Tête Rousse Hut.
Day 3 — Mont Blanc summit day Hut night at the Refuge du Goûter.
Day 4 — Return to Chamonix
Day 5 — Travel to Zermatt & the Hörnli Hut
Day 6 — Matterhorn summit day
Day 7 — Travel to Grindelwald
Day 8 — Eiger summit day
Day 9 — Descend to Grindelwald
Day 10 — Return to Chamonix & fly home (Flights and airport transfer not included)
Mountaineering doesn’t run to a fixed script — this schedule can shift day to day depending on weather, your ability, and your guide’s judgement on the day. The order above reflects the ideal sequence.
What’s included
- 3 nights accommodation in the valley, shared (2–3 star)
- 7 nights accommodation in mountain huts (huts may vary)
- 10 days with an IFMGA mountain guide

What’s not included
- Any travel to or from Chamonix at the beginning and end of the trip (flights, taxis, buses, transfers)
- Mountaineering insurance (we recommend BMC Trekking Insurance)
- Any meals, food, or snacks outside of breakfast and mountain hut dinners
- Any personal kit
- Guide gratuities are entirely at your discretion; if you’re pleased with the service, we recommend covering your guide’s meal at the final evening’s celebration dinner

Training Support
Getting Triple Crown-ready takes real preparation. Our coaching team offers online 1:1 coaching (a fully personalised programme with week-to-week feedback and biweekly catch up calls) or a templated, mountain-specific training programme for climbers who already train consistently and want direction. In-person training is also available on request in London.
A note on conditions
The Alps don’t run to a fixed script, and this is truer across three mountains than one. Every stage of the expedition is weather and condition dependent, and your guide’s safety decisions (including changes to route, order, or schedule) are always final. Their job is to maximise your chances of completing the Triple Crown while keeping the team safe throughout.
