2 Day Technical Preparation Course, North Wales
Scrambling and Alpinism SkillCourse
£425 per person
Skill Level 3
Preparing for objectives like the Matterhorn or the Eiger takes more than fitness, it takes rope work, efficient movement over mixed ground, and sound mountain judgement under pressure. Our technical alpinism preparation trips are built around exactly that, giving climbers the skills and confidence to move safely and efficiently before heading to the Alps.
Who is this for?
Designed for climbers with an upcoming alpine objective in mind — whether that’s the Matterhorn, the Eiger, or another serious alpine route. Some prior scrambling or climbing experience is expected; this trip is about sharpening and alpine-proofing existing skills, not starting from scratch.

Rope work for moving together and pitching terrain, as used on classic alpine routes
Efficient movement techniques over mixed rock and scrambling ground
Practice with gear handling, transitions, and decision-making under time pressure

Where Next?
The Alps are calling. This course is specifically designed for those attempting an Eiger or Matterhorn. Let us know your aim and we’ll make sure you’re set up for it. Our IFMGA guide is in North Wales to help you prepare!
A note on conditions:
UK mountains never run to a fixed script, be prepared for the worst and hope for th ebest. Every course is weather and condition dependent, and your Mountain Leader’s safety decisions — including changes to the route, the objective, or the schedule — are always final. Where a planned summit isn’t possible, your guide will offer the best available alternative on the day.
